British Science Week

June 2, 2026/in Uncategorized/by Erica Tapp
On Thursday 21st May Saracens Bell Lane celebrated British Science Week. Throughout the week, children took part in engaging experiments, investigations, and challenges linked to this year’s theme: “Curiosity.”  On Thursday they had the opportunity to share their learning with each other at the fair.
British Science Week is a nationwide celebration of science, technology, engineering, and maths (STEM).

The children were excited to celebrate British Science Week with a range of fun, hands-on activities designed to inspire curiosity, creativity, and a love of discovery in our students.

Thank you to our colleagues for working hard in planning such fantastic events and thank you to our CEO for joining in!

Student Charity Challenge

May 22, 2026/in Uncategorized/by Erica Tapp

Three Year 13 students from Saracens High School have decided to take-on a climbing challenge across the British isles to raise money for the Saracens Foundation. Here’s the challenge in their own words:

We’re a group of friends who’ve collectively been part of Saracens High School for over two decades, and rooted in the community for even longer.

This challenge is our way of giving back to the community and our Saracens family that’s given us so much over the years. The Saracens Foundation does incredible work changing lives across Barnet and beyond – from mentoring young people to supporting families facing hardship. We want to play our part.

We’ve been inspired by our Duke of Edinburgh exploits and the urge to push ourselves, give back, and support others who need it. So we’re taking on the National Three Peaks Challenge – climbing Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike, and Snowdon back-to-back, all within 24 hours.

Every step will be self-funded. 100% of your donations go directly to the Saracens Foundation – we’re covering all travel, accommodation and other costs ourselves.

If you can spare anything to support the foundation’s work, it’ll keep us going up those mountains and make a real difference on the ground in our community. CLICK HERE to place a donation through our JustGiving page.

Thank you for being part of this with us,

Haroon, Adam and Freddie

Hoop Stars

March 20, 2026/in Uncategorized/by Erica Tapp

A huge well done to our fantastic pupils who recently took part in the basketball tournament organised by the Barnet Partnership for School Sport (BPSS).

The team showed brilliant sportsmanship and grit throughout the day. They played six matches in total, finishing with a very balanced record of two wins, two draws, and two losses.

In a nail-biting finish, we unfortunately missed out on qualifying for the next round by just two points. Despite the narrow margin, the children should be incredibly proud of their teamwork and skill on the court.

Sea Life Aquarium

March 16, 2026/in Uncategorized/by Erica Tapp

Our Year 3 pupils from Dolphin Class and Gorilla Class recently enjoyed a fantastic trip to the Sea Life London Aquarium. The excitement began the moment everyone boarded the coach, with pupils eager to explore the wonders of the ocean.

Once inside, the children came face-to-face with a brilliant variety of sea creatures. A major highlight was watching the sharks glide through the main tank, while the playful penguins caused plenty of giggles as they waddled around their enclosure. The children were also fascinated by the brightly coloured starfish and learned many interesting facts about different underwater habitats.

This trip provided a wonderful hands-on start to our new topic. Back in the classroom, the pupils will be using their memories of the day to write a detailed account of their experience. As always, we were proud of how well the children represented our school during the outing.

World Book Day

March 6, 2026/in Uncategorized/by Erica Tapp

World Book Day at Saracens Bell Lane was a fantastic celebration of stories and imagination! Our school was transformed by wonderful costumes, with a special mention to our amazing admin staff, whose outfits once again set the bar extremely high.

We were delighted to welcome Saracens rugby star, Louie Johnson, who spent time meeting pupils and sharing in the excitement of the day. Additionally, children enjoyed inspiring workshops with published author Steven Vinacour, who helped bring the world of writing to life.

It was a brilliant day dedicated to the joy of reading, leaving everyone inspired by the magic of books. You can read more about the professional rugby player’s visit by clicking here.

Year 1 Visit Central London

March 2, 2026/in Uncategorized/by Erica Tapp
Year 1 went on an exciting trip to London using the London Underground.

The trip brought to life what the children had been learning in the classroom. They saw the various London landmarks they have been learning about in Geography and through their literacy book, The Queen’s Hat by Steve Antony.

The children went on a river boat cruise on the River Thames and spotted Tower Bridge, Big Ben, Tower of London, Houses of Parliament and the Shard, just to name a few landmarks. They then had the opportunity to get on the London Eye and spot more landmarks from the top. They were very excited to see Buckingham Palace!

The children had an amazing day seeing everything they had been learning about.

Year 6 Visit to Natural History Museum

March 2, 2026/in Uncategorized/by Erica Tapp

In February, Year 6 went on an exciting trip to the Natural History Museum. To start the day, the children took part in a workshop about evolution. They learned how animals have changed over millions of years and looked closely at different fossils and bones.

After the workshop, the group explored the rest of the museum. The dinosaur exhibition was the favorite part of the day! The children loved seeing the massive skeletons and life-sized models. It was a fantastic day of learning that brought science to life.
