Parent Radiographer Visits Year 1

November 11, 2025/in Uncategorized/by Erica Tapp

In Year 1 we have been learning about our bodies and our senses. To deepen our knowledge about our bodies we had a visit from one of our pupil’s parents who is a radiographer.

Tia’s mum taught us how different machines can take pictures of the inside of our bodies. We had fun learning about x-rays, CT scans and MRI machines and got to see pictures that these machines can take.

Parents attending workshops and coffee morning, running clubs and wanting to be involved in the children’s learning enhances the pupils’ education and makes Saracens Bell Lane a truly wonderful community to belong to. Thank you to Tia’s mum and to all of our lovely families.

Science Museum

November 10, 2025/in Uncategorized/by Erica Tapp

On October 23rd we organised an educational trip to The Science Museum. The purpose of this trip was to give pupils an opportunity to explore scientific concepts beyond the classroom and to encourage curiosity about technology and innovation.

Despite the transport issues, we arrived safely and had ample time to visit the Space exhibition. The section offered interactive exhibits and hands-on activities that made learning both fun and engaging. The children were given the opportunity to gather and record information about space to take back to school and design their information leaflet.

In addition to its educational value, the trip also helped pupils develop teamwork, curiosity, and respect for scientific discovery. Everyone behaved responsibly and represented the school with pride.

Overall, the visit to The Science Museum was a memorable and enriching experience that inspired the children to appreciate the wonders of science and continue exploring how it shapes our world.

Reading With Saracens Sixth Formers

October 23, 2025/in Uncategorized/by Erica Tapp

It’s been wonderful having 30 sixth formers from Saracens High School coming to read with 1:1 with our pupils on Wednesday afternoons.

The sixth form volunteers were trained by Mrs Tudorache and have shown much patience and maturity in helping our pupils progress with reading. It has also been wonderful to see how well our pupils have responded, as they look forward to reading with the ‘big kids’ in the hall each week.

Initiatives like these are one of the many benefits of belonging to the Saracens family and we look forward to exploring more ways to work together in the future.

Science lessons at Saracens High School

October 22, 2025/in Uncategorized/by Erica Tapp

Our year 6 pupils got a taste of what science lessons are like at secondary school when they spent time in the science labs at Saracens High School.

The children enjoyed watching a flame test demonstration before themselves carrying out an experiment about chemical reactions where they used chemicals to succesfully inflate balloons.

As well as the excitement of the lessons themselves was the thrill of being in a high school and even eating lunch in the vast dining hall!

Arts and Crafts Club

October 21, 2025/in Uncategorized/by Erica Tapp
Arts and Crafts club has been an enormous success!

Every Wednesday afternoon until the Christmas break, Miss Clack has been running a super creative club for our children.

There have been 17 artists attending the after-school club, from years 2-6. The children have enjoyed making rockets, dream catchers (like Rico is holding in the photo) and some art for Diwali.

We’re so grateful to Miss Clack and her partner for running such an incredible club. Isn’t our community amazing?

Our Saracens Family Is Growing!

October 6, 2025/in Uncategorized/by Erica Tapp

On Wednesday 1st October another primary school in Barnet joined Saracens Multi-Academy Trust: Saracens Broadfields in Edgware.

Mrs Tudorache and Ms Hanham attended the launch party, along with 2 of our wonderful pupil ambassadors: Filip and Desire. There were also representatives from the other Saracens school: Saracens High School.

We’re delighted to have another ‘cousin’ in our family whom we can share experiences and resources with.

Reading Workshop

October 2, 2025/in Uncategorized/by Erica Tapp

We love welcoming parents into our school! This week we invited parents to a reading workshop led by Ms Zekiri.

Ms Zekiri introduced parents to ‘Reading Eggs,’ an award-winning online literacy platform for children aged 2–13 that blends game-based learning with proven instructional design. It teaches reading skills in a highly structured, step-by-step sequence, incorporating phonics, phonemic awareness, vocabulary, fluency and comprehension. After taking a placement test, each child works at their own level through interactive lessons, quizzes and decodable books. Progress is tracked via a parent/teacher dashboard, and children earn rewards along the way to keep them motivated. It’s a wonderful tool for helping children develop a lifelong love of reading.

During our session, the adults and the children had the opportunity to log on and use the platform. We will continue to champion reading in school and we’re thrilled that families are joining us by also championing reading at home.

Primary Athletics Competition at StoneX Stadium

July 1, 2025/in Uncategorized/by Erica Tapp

The Primary Athletics Competition at StoneX Stadium was a well-organised, fun event with 16 local schools represented!

The children had a great time competing in various events, from shotput to long jump, and from sprints to relay races.

Although it was very hot, they persevered and were happy to be part of such a great day, with support from friends and family watching in the stands.

Well done Saracens Bell Lane and bring on next year!

Football Tournament

July 1, 2025/in Uncategorized/by Erica Tapp

Our Year 5 girls and boys football teams attended Bishop Douglass High School to participate in a day of football tournaments.

Despite there being over 20 schools, our boys made it all the way to the semi-finals!

A big well done to everyone for their dedication, teamwork and sportsmanship.
