Meet Simba, our beloved school dog!

Simba is a much-loved member of our school community, offering both comfort and connection to children and adults alike. One of his most important roles is supporting our weekly Reading to Simba sessions, where children from across the school spend time reading aloud to him. These sessions help build confidence, fluency, and a love of reading in a calm, non-judgmental space—Simba is always an encouraging listener!

Beyond reading, Simba also visits classrooms to support learning, especially in topics like animal care, dog-related stories, and understanding emotions. His gentle presence helps regulate emotions and reduce anxiety, making him a steady, reassuring friend.

Whether he’s helping in a lesson or simply relaxing in the main office, Simba is always just a stroke away.

We were delighted to show two players from Saracens Rugby Club around our school.

Charlie Barker and Charlie West came for a tour of our school during Science Week. In Year 3 the children showed the sports stars what they’d been learning about magnets and fossils. While in Reception the players were treated to having their portraits drawn. In fact, it was hard tearing the players away from Reception – if they didn’t have to go and train at the gym they’d have stayed and played all day long!

We are pleased to be in the unique position of being linked to a professional sports team and we look forward to showing more guests from Saracens around our school in the future.

Saracens High School and Saracens Bell Lane are being given FREE TICKETS to the men’s match at StoneX Stadium on Saturday 1st Febuary (3pm kick off).

This will be the Saracens Multi-Academy Trust Takeover Match. This is our opportunity to introduce Saracens fans to our schools as well as to enjoy supporting our team, spending time together, and meeting one another’s friends and families.

About the day:

• Pupils will have the opportunity to be flag bearers on the pitch before the game
• Some pupils will be on the mic, reading out the team sheets
• StoneX is a friendly and safe place for families; babies and very young children are welcome.
• There is a free playground for families to use
• There are food and drink stalls for those wanting to buy snacks
• We will be collecting toy donations for a new toy library at Saracens Bell Lane’s Children’s Centre (more information below)
